Phil has recently completed his Masters in Physiology at Chichester University and will offer fitness testing at the Malthouse gym. Many athletes are training harder and harder for events but do not base the training on any science. From Phil’s experience with elite athletes, he has seen how useful it is for athletes to have an accurate measure of their level of fitness and track their progress.
This can either reinforce that your training is being effective and achieving the intended improvements, or highlight that it is not being effective and should be altered. Phil’s role is to do both the baseline testing, mostly based on lactate testing, and then to develop appropriate training programmes which work towards athletes goal.
