COVID-19 CLINIC RE-OPENING
CLINIC RE-OPENING:
Public Health England, The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, the Health and Care Professions Council and UK Government have produced guidelines for Physiotherapists to return to work following the lockdown. This ensures we provide a service which minimises exposure, follows social distance rules and helps to stop the spread of infection. These guidelines are constantly under review and can rapidly change and therefore the following strategy is subject to change.
I have invested in PPE, made changes to the working environment and changed the way I practice. I also have a duty to clinically evaluate each patient’s general health and weigh up the benefit over risk when attending a face to face appointment.
To ensure I obey social distancing rules I will adopt a process of staggering patient attendance with longer gaps between patient treatment times to avoid patient crossover. Therefore please do not arrive early for appointments.
Re-introducing Face to Face Consultations
I have developed the following procedure for existing and new patients to receive treatment.
Step 1 : Initial Telephone Consultation
The initial consultation will help me to understand your problem and determine if a face to face appointment is required. I will identify if you are within one of the 3 identified categories of vulnerable patients as per Government guidelines.
If it is identified that a face to face appointment is not necessary or appropriate, I will discuss with you your available options. This may include personalised and specific advice, and exercise prescription regarding your particular injury or problem.
If a clinical assessment is required then I will check for Covid-19 symptoms and invite you to attend the clinic at a pre-arranged time. At this stage I will inform you of the procedures I have put in place to ensure your safety during your appointment. Your cooperation in following to these procedures will ensure that I can remain open to deliver necessary treatment in a safe environment.
Step 2 : Face to Face Clinical Assessment
I will perform a physical assessment to establish a diagnosis and then discuss your treatment options.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE GYM WILL REMAIN CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
Thank you for your patience and cooperation during these challenging times.
